Documents necessary for purchase of a railway ticket, and boarding a train in Russia:
- Travel passport
- Visa (if required)

If you travel outside of Russia to an international destination, you are required to have a travel passport and a visa for the destination country, (if required). However, train and railways personnel are not responsible for any possible consequences if you do not have documents required for entry to international destination. Foreign travel visas are the responsibility of a passenger. Please consult with your travel agent or call respective consulate or embassy of a country you are traveling to from the list below.

- citizens with valid diplomatic or service passports for the period of 30 days from the moment of entering the country;
- train, refrigerator and locomotive group of workers of railway at presence of the route and/or official representatives of intergovernmental communication by courier;
- citizens of Russian Federation and Turkmenistan having dual-citizenship, under valid national passports of home country and presence of the document confirming citizenship of another.
- passengers traveling transit via Turkmenistan border (without change/transfer) – (Turkmenistan visa is not required.

Small domestic animal: dogs, cats, birds, etc. being transported in a luggage car only with no change of a train to your final destination
Transportation of dogs:
- in containers or boxes with pallets in baggage cars;
- ordinary passenger car (second-class carriage), but no more than 2 dogs of large size with muzzle and leashed, under supervision of owners, which should travel in the same car;
- also a passenger has to pay per number of seats in compartment required for the pets.
- any size dogs will increase your luggage fee for extra 20 kg/44 lbs weight.
Transportation of small domestic animals, dogs, in baggage cars birds with appropriate veterinary certificates.
Transporting a group of dogs with forwarded orders addressed to the chief of station, but not later than 5 days prior to departure...

Carry On Luggage may not exceed 36 kg/79lbs for each passenger and children travelling with a ticket
Each passenger is allowed to carry 50 kg/110 lbs of luggage; additional fees are accessed for extra weight and a luggage space in a car compartment. Additional luggage space can be purchased only for the compartment you travel in and purchased ticket for that train class/type.. Does not apply for upper class/type train.
